Scientific Anglers Takes Packaging to the Next Level

I love it when a company that makes great products already comes up with a totally out of the box (or in this case INSIDE the box) idea.

It’s no secret that I’m a big conservationist. I’ve been shouting it from the riverbank for as long as I have been fishing. To me, fishing and conservation go hand-in-hand. You can’t have one without the other. That’s exactly why it’s important to me when a fly-fishing company pushes the bar upward with a product that has the potential to change the way we’ve been doing the fly-fishing business for a long time.  And now, Scientific Anglers has done just that.

Let me introduce you to the Scientific Anglers Absolute Trout Bulk Leader program.

This program is a new way for your fly shop to sell SA leaders.  Currently, we purchase most leaders in those little plastic sleeves – usually three to a pack.  Why? Because that’s how they’ve been sold for … well, a long time.

But not anymore.

With this new program, Scientific Anglers has taken the next step toward protecting our wild places while providing the Absolute best leaders.  They have eliminated the packaging that leaders come in!  It’s brilliant.  Why hasn’t the industry thought of this before?  When I heard about it, I had one of those a-ha moments.

Just like buying flies from the fly shop bins, now you can choose your own leaders and consolidate them all in an eco-friendly and 100% biodegradable package.  And, if you’re one of those crazy anglers who keeps everything in their sling pack organized, you’ll appreciate the new leader wallet they are also offering….so you can not only keep everything concise but refill your leaders and eliminate packaging entirely.

But this isn’t at every fly shop. So, if you are serious about conservation and want to do away with all those little plastic sleeves we have all seen on the river’s edge, then ask your local fly shop to carry the Absolute Trout Leader program.

Don’t you just love it when you can enjoy your sport and take that next step toward conservation?  It doesn’t just feel right, it feels Absolute-ly right.

The Simms Guide Classic Wader and Jacket

The Simms Guide Classic Wader and Jacket

I’m a bit of a gear junkie. I love good gear and I love good technology. I can also tend to be a brand snob. When I got into fly fishing back in the day, I wore Simms boy’s waders, casted a Sage 9’ 5-wt Light Line and

Survival of the Fittest - Or Most Prepared

Survival of the Fittest - Or Most Prepared

This is the current view from my office window…in Tennessee.  I moved here from Chicago four years ago because I wanted to be somewhere warm, without that white stuff, and without the single-digit temperatures. To say I feel like I was sold a bill of goods this morning when
