The Cuban Mojito

2 oz       Cuban Rum

1.5 oz    Lime juice

6            Mint Leaves

1 tsp     Sugar

top.       Club Soda

To Build:
Place your lime juice, sugar and mint in the bottom of your glass.  Use a muddler to bruise the mint and begin melting the sugar.  Add ice and rum to glass and stir to chill.  Top with club soda and a fresh sprig of mint and a lime wedge.

The Mojito is Cuba’s oldest cocktail.  We were lucky enough here at the DUN offices to have a good friend head down to Cuba this year.  We told him not to come back unless he brought us a bottle of Havana Club Rum.  We must have given him so much good advice on catching tarpon, because he showed up at the offices smelling of tarpon, with a bottle of 7 year old Havana Club rum in hand.  Lucky us.  After sampling some neat, it was Mojitos all around.

Since our bottle is nearly empty, if you venture to Cuba, be sure to send us a bottle!

Survival of the Fittest - Or Most Prepared

Survival of the Fittest - Or Most Prepared

This is the current view from my office window…in Tennessee.  I moved here from Chicago four years ago because I wanted to be somewhere warm, without that white stuff, and without the single-digit temperatures. To say I feel like I was sold a bill of goods this morning when
